Email DennisPastor Den Slattery lives with his wife Karen and their youngest daughter Holly. Karen is a college math teacher, but was trained in Deaf Education. She helps out in the Church by editing the newsletter, running the children's program, doing children's sermons, and playing the piano during worship services--among other things.
Pastor Den is a retired Army Chaplain who served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He frequently speaks at Veterans events, churches, retreats, prisons, jails, and for the military. Den loves teaching the Bible and leading people to Christ. In his spare time Den teaches outdoor survival, goes fishing, writes books, and lreading good books while drinking Starbucks Coffee. For the last 10 years Den has been helping to lead the annual Maranatha Christian Writers Conference held in Muskegon, Michigan each Fall (See www.writewithpurpose.org).
What follows is Den's story of how he went from being an atheist to a Christian. It's a great story.
