Missions
Chairperson: Elinor Weisgerber

MISSION STATEMENT:  TO TRANSFORM THE WORLD BY REACHING OUT TO PEOPLE IN JESUS NAME AND DEVELOPING THEM INTO MATURE FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST.

Missions Committee:

Members are:  Elinor Weisgerber,Connie Heyboer, Connie Nash, Linda Seelhoff, Jennifer Sundell and Pastor Ray Sundell.  Roberta Delamarter is our former leader.

A vital part of the LeValley United Methodist Church is our Mission to our community and our world.  The Missions Committee oversees this roll in several ways:

Community Service - Our community is served by contributing to the Zion Community Food Bank with monthly gifts of money and non-perishable food.  Every other month we prepare supper at the Zion Soup Kitchen.  We also support the Feeding America Food Truck.

Annual Pancake Supper - Our annual Pancake Supper gives support to our Church sponsored Cub Scout Troop #3085, and proceeds from the supper also benefit RAVE, the Christian Service Center, the Commission on Aging, ENRICH, Pregnancy Services and other local agencies who need help.

Missionaries:  Our world is served by supporting missionaries; Sandy and Delbert Groves ministering in Zambia.  Neil and Marie Hicks are our contact with Japan.  Joel and LaReina King and family, are preparing to work in Africa with Africa Inland Mission, and they have just finished courses at the School of Missionary Aviation Technology in Ionia, Michigan.

Church World Service (CWS) and the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), also receive our help by assembling school kits and hygiene kits and baby kits.  And, the church members have overwhelmlingly contributed in providing anti-malaria mosquito nets.

School kits -  These kits are made up of the following items: 3 (70) page notebooks, 6 pencils, 1 ruler, 1 pencil sharpener, 1 large eraser, 1 box of (24) crayons, and 1 blunt-tipped child scissors.

Annual CROP WALK - each October, sponsored walkers raise money to help end hunger.  (CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by local congregations or groups to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world.)

Annual "Lasagna Dinner" -held in October.  Proceeds support local community services.
